I love the week between Christmas and New Year’s. It’s a powerful time to pause, step back, reflect and intentionally prepare for a fresh start. The energy is lower in a good way providing an opportunity to slow down, rest, meditate and reset.
Rather than hastily moving forward, I encourage you to use the next few days for self-reflection. Make and take some quiet time to be alone, clear your head and focus.
Here’s my simple 5 Step New Year’s Blueprint to get you started.
- Review
Carefully review the details of your life and gain perspective about the past year. What went well in 2017? What would you like to change?
- Visualize
Dream about what you want to create in the New Year. Take an inner journey and connect with the insight already within you. Visualize who you want to be, what you want to do, where you want to go and how you want your life to look in 2018. What are you passionate about? What makes you happy and brings you pleasure and joy? What role were you born to play?
Write the vision down. Include all the details — the dream relationship, job, vacation, body… Seeing your goals written down will have a powerful effect on your mind. Fully experience the positive emotions that accompany your dreams so the vision feels real. Drink them in, taste them, connect with your vision until you believe deep down in your soul that it’s possible.
- Believe
To succeed, achieve and make your dreams a reality you need to believe in yourself and your abilities. To ignite this process write down the core beliefs that are serving you AND the core beliefs that are not serving you.
For example, if you want to lose weight core beliefs serving you might be: “Transforming my body is easy and effortless,” “I crave healthy food and feel inspired to exercise.” “My body is coming into alignment with my vision.”
Core beliefs not serving you might be: “I can’t stop eating junk food.” “I hate to exercise,” and “weight loss is difficult.”
Repeat the core beliefs serving you daily. Write them on post it notes and place them around your house, car and office where you’ll see them.
Don’t neglect writing down the beliefs that aren’t serving you. Once you recognize these negative beliefs you can dispute them (rather than accept them as true) and turn them over to God or Spirit for transformation.
- Organize
Once you have a clear picture of your future get organize. Make two lists. On the first list write down everything you want to get rid of and let go of in 2017. On the second list write down everything you want to manifest in 2018. Think BIG! Increase your expectations. If you want to have a WOW life you have to set WOW goals.
Start the de cluttering process one relationship or closet at a time. This will create space and energy for your new WOW goals to start to happen.
- Get Clear
Make a plan. Write down your goals and all the details. Start with your point Z (the WOW goals you wrote down in step 2). Then figure out your point A (where you are currently), your point B (the next smallest step), your point C, your point D… Then start working on your point B. Chunking things down into doable steps is a powerful process that will help you to avoid overwhelm.
For example, if your point Z is getting in fantastic shape your point B may be doing 1 push-up, walking for 10 minutes or joining a gym. If you’re point Z is landing your dream job, you’re point A may be updating your resume or spending 20 minutes a day networking on LinkedIn.
It’s time to stop playing small. Enjoy being who you are and share your wonderfulness with the world.
In the words of Marianne Williamson:
We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
