If you’ve been feeling flattened by the coronavirus (and honestly who hasn’t?) Leo’s roaring new moon in can lift your spirits and generate confidence.
New moons provide an opportunity for a fresh perspective and start. Leo rules the heart and spine, so you can tap into this energy by examining your heart and standing up for what you believe in.
Even though things are stressful, and you may be feeling lonely, anxious, afraid or depressed, you have control over your energy and can change your heart and your future direction. By choosing love over fear you can make a shift and lay the foundation for a new level of personal transformation.
Here are 6 tips to make the most of this lunation.
1. Be Courageous
The word “courage comes from the French word “coeur” which means heart. So being courageous entails following a path with heart. Mercury is also in Leo so you can be courageous by aligning your heart and mind.
Connect with, listen to, and take an honest look at your feeling. Emotions are your GPS device. Difficult ones – like sadness, frustration, and anger – tell you to change direction. Positive ones – like joy, gratitude, and hope – tell you to keep moving in the same direction.
Yes, following your heart is challenging. You will piss other people off. I know. I just made a huge shift in my life by ending a relationship and moving out on my own. Not everyone was happy with my decision, but I knew it was the right thing to do and I loved myself enough to muster the courage to shift.
Stay strong. Respect yourself and focus on self-love. It will empower you to break through the fears that are holding you back because when you love yourself you can’t put up with people and situations that offend your soul.
2. Lighten Up
Let go of projects that aren’t working and focus on what you love. I recently let go of a work situation that wasn’t serving me, and it has freed up so much energy for new directions and opportunities.
3. Be Creative and Enthusiastic
Be enthusiastic. (The word enthusiasm originally meant someone possessed by God.) Do what generates joy and makes you happy.
Embrace your inner child. Think you’re too mature at midlife? You’re never too old to play and have fun. Experiment – start that DIY project or learn something new. If you feel guilty for having fun give your inner critic a time out.
4. Be Unapologetically You
Be yourself. No one can tell you you’re doing it wrong. Know yourself and discover what’s unique and fantastic about you. Own your power, and let your light shine.
Let go of what others think about you, and don’t take things personally. As Don Miguel Ruiz, author of The Four Agreements explains, “Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.”

5. Celebrate Yourself
In the words of Dr. Seuss, “No one is youer than you!” There is an internal light within that is reliable. Own it and claim your right to shine.
As you shine your light, your vibe will attract others with similar energy allowing you to make meaningful connections.
6. Keep Going
Things are challenging right now, and there is a lot of fear and uncertainty. Keep moving in the direction of your dreams. Remember, the darkness and difficulty offer opportunities to shine, connect and sparkle.
